Accessing QuickBooks – Cloud Accounting
As your business grows, more employees and officers will likely need access to the QuickBooks data file while working away from the office. In addition, you may have more than one physical location and each location needs to be centrally tied into the QuickBooks data.
Options:
Windows Remote Desktop/Terminal Services
This is a solution that will require some IT assistance to set up. However, once it is up and running, your staff will have access not just to QuickBooks, but to all the computer resources within your business.
With this setup, there is no monthly or annual fee. However, there is separate licensing that must be purchased from Microsoft that will run on your server to allow these remote connections to happen seamlessly. (Contact your IT for pricing and support).
**Note that Windows Remote Desktop/Terminal Services is only supported with QuickBooks Enterprise edition.
QuickBooks Hosting Services –
Instead of using your own server and software, as in windows remote desktop/terminal services, there are several third-party hosting services that do it for you.
By selecting this option, you avoid any upfront software/hardware costs. Instead, you pay a monthly fee per user for the web hosting.
We call this Cloud Accounting and/or QuickBooks in the Cloud. Hosting provides you the ability to get to your QuickBooks data 24/7 without the cost or burden of an IT person. Generally, the cost for hosting runs about $40.00-$50.00/user per month.
We have partnered with several of the leading hosting companies. We will gladly help you in your decision-making process.
**Note that cloud hosting supports QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Enterprise editons.
